Courses
Four starting points — Business Japanese, JLPT preparation, Everyday Japanese, and a fully custom corporate programme — which we then reshape around each learner's level and actual job. We check where someone is with a trial lesson before designing anything, because two people at the same JLPT level rarely have the same gaps. Delivery is online, one to one.
The four starting points
Business Japanese
Built backwards from the situations the person is actually in. Because the audience and the purpose are fixed, this is where progress shows fastest.
- Email and keigo
- Speaking up in meetings
- Presentations
- Hourensou in practice
- Industry and in-house vocabulary
JLPT preparation
N5 to N1. We run this differently depending on whether the certificate is the goal or a requirement of a visa or an internal grade.
- Grammar, vocabulary, reading
- Listening
- Mock exams and gap analysis
- Working from question patterns
- A plan up to the exam date
Everyday Japanese
For someone who has just arrived. Life outside work has to function before work does, so new arrivals often start here.
- Introductions and greetings
- Shopping, clinics, the city office
- Hiragana, katakana, kanji
- The cultural assumptions behind both
- Instructor can explain in English
Corporate custom
Several people at once, or a programme built around one role. The right choice when the goal is "this person can be trusted with this work".
- Curriculum built to the objective
- Multiple learners
- Attendance and progress reporting
- Sector-specific content
- A before-and-after you can point at
How it is delivered
| Format | Online, one to one |
|---|---|
| Location | Office, home, or outside Japan — the format does not change |
| Hours | Before work, after work and weekends can be arranged |
| Materials | Chosen for the objective. Your own documents can be the material |
| Reporting | Attendance and progress to a named contact |
| Cost | Quoted per engagement — headcount, frequency, duration and content all move it |
See Request a Proposal for how a quote is put together.
Three things to decide before you start
These matter more to the outcome than which course you pick.
When the lessons happen
Inside working hours, or in the employee's own time? Left vague, attendance stops during a busy period and quietly never resumes. This is the most common way a programme fails.
Who reads the reports
HR or the direct manager. If it is the manager, decide whether the employee is told — and tell them.
What success looks like
"Better Japanese" cannot be judged. "Sends client email unsupervised" can.
